Essential Guide 2009 in Layout

The Essential Guide entered its production phrase. The Cheviot team is enjoying the pressure of deadlines, collating all the information, adding final touches to the text, updating the GPS maps and polishing wine bottles for the studio photography. Our photographic team is working overtime taking pack shots of the flagship wines, cellars, vineyards and tasting rooms. So wineries if you see an old green Land Rover on your estate, it’s just our photographers!!!

We are all eagerly anticipating the 2nd edition of our award winning wine book.

New Grape Cultivars title launched

In March 2009, Cheviot Publishing launched Prof. PG Goussard’s highly anticipated title: GRAPE CULTIVARS FOR WINE PRODUCTION IN SOUTH AFRICA.

A thorough knowledge of cultivars is essential for vineyard establishment and cultivation, vinification and marketing strategies. In addition to the reliable identification of wine grape cultivars, the values associated with their characteristics, cultivation preferences and cultivation needs cannot be overemphasized – particularly in South African conditions.

* An expert overview on ampelography for cultivar identification,
* International cultivar names spellings,
* Detailed analysis on more than sixty red and white wine grape cultivars,
* Superb full colour photographs of shoot tips, leaves and grape bunches for easy identification,
* Specialist advice on cultivation for quality wine production,
* At-a-glance panels providing comparative detail on origin, growth and yield,
* Highlights internationally recognised synonyms.
